Hello, Folks, and Happy Independence Day.

I've had this issue for a while, but it seems to be getting worse. My skin and scalp are terribly itchy and nothing seems to help. I've tried lotions and a variety of shampoos.

I've scratched myself to the point of leaving scars on my shoulders and legs.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Happy Independence day to you too! Have you recently got your Thyroid levels checked? One of the causes of itchy skin is underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). This can be yet another potential complication of diabetes.

If it's a thyroid related issue it can be treated.

I hope it gets better!

Yes, I just had a complete thyroid panel and it's normal.

Thanks**

I think it's just diabetic dry skin. But I can't find anything that helps.
I sympathize with you. I started out with dry skin that was exacerbated by T2. I switched from soap to Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and without drying, slather on Curel Hydratherapy lotion. It's not sticky, and you'll dry in a few minutes. I use Paul Mitchell Tree Tea shampoo and twice a month mix 1 Tbsp of baking soda with 2 ounces of water, massage into hair, leave on for a couple of minutes and rinse. Rinse with 1/4 apple cider vinegar mixed with 1 Cup of water to get rid of frizzies or just to add shine. Good luck. Hope you find some relief.

My doctor prescribed Triamcinolon Cream and it works great for itching!
My doctor also prescribed Triamcinolon Acetonide cream. Told me to put a generous amount on my hands 2 x a day then cover with Latex gloves. He didn't say how long, but I have been using them for maybe 30 min to an hour. Works well if I remember to keep doing it. It goes away then comes back if I miss a day. I only seem to have it on my hands. I have also used Benadryl itch relief stick ( I know it is not a cure, but sure helps me stop the itching).
