Hi alanfujii,

I use the My Fitness Pal app on my cell phone for most of it. It has a great database of values in it. Even better, if your phone has a camera, you can scan the bar codes on packaging which instantly imports nutritional data. You just need to enter the number of servings.

It even tracks vitamins and minerals if you care to look at that level of detail.

As far as calorie expenditure, I get the cardio calories data off the machines I use and enter that into the My Fitness Pal. For lifting data and yard work data, I am guessing based on how tired I feel afterwards.


I bought a scale to get an idea of certain food weights, and with practice can quickly estimate weights.

Now what am I going to do with all this? My thought was to try and correlate intake with fasting bg. The only thing I can for sure correlate at this time is that moderate alcohol the night before will drop my fasting bg. I also think that eating earlier in the evenings and going to bed with an empty stomach will drop the fbg. But I seem to always find exceptions.

I guess I do this mostly to stay "into it". It gives me motivation to stay on top of things...
