Keto was used for epileptic patients before there were drugs to treat it. It kind of went out of fashion after the drugs started being used.
Now (a small study) has found that keto is also helpful for those who have multiple sclerosis.

I have a relative with severe progressive MS. I have suggested several times that they try a keto diet to see if it reduces some of the symptoms or progression. They just can't get away from the carbs. 🙁
