When you say 3 carbs at a meal, is that carb servings or exchanges. 3 carb exchanges will be around 45 carbs. I eat 10-15 carb grams per meal. Many of us have had to give up bread, cereal, rice, pasta and fruit because it raise our bgs too much. As far as the Humulog do you count carbs specifically or do you use a sliding scale to figure out dosage. The insulin balance is a tricky balance to get right. As far as pain goes, any inflamation can cause increase in bgs. What usually happens is when inflammation in any joint or muscle is present, your body produces stress hormones which then signal liver to convert glycogen into glucose to start healing you. I had some inflamation problems last summer with my muscles. I had terrible bgs all summer.
