I'm close with my 37 yo son and told him about my LCHF WOE several months ago. I told him aside from dropping my BG it made me feel better, lose weight, end the lethargy after eating, all the bloating and gas, etc.

I was shocked to hear that he has been incorporating higher fats and fewer carbs for a couple of months now. He at 6'3" and 175 lbs is very strong and healthy. He works in an electrical contractors shop and does heavy fabrication, expending huge amounts of energy. He waits tables at Chili's a few night a week as well.

Yesterday he told me he is ketogenic as he has been testing. He does not nor has he ever had BG issues according to me testing him when he was eating normally. He has picked up bits and pieces of what I've told him and done some research on his own. I think he's on a path to a healthy lifestyle. He and his wife are doing heavy intense interval training as well.

Hindsight is a great system. If I'd known twenty five years ago what I now know about diet I suspect I wouldn't be diabetic and would never have weighed in at over 80 kg (180 pounds to you non metric lot:))

Glad to hear of someone following a good example - well done Nick!

Oh, what wonderful news.

I knew about LCHF, I even did it when all I worried about was losing weight. Wish I had kept doing it. Like John, I suspect I might never have met all you wonderful people.

LCHF is the best diet for almost everyone. By "almost" I mean that certain people who don't handle fat or perhaps are allergic to dairy, meat and nuts would find it painfully hard to follow.

That's great Nick! Perhaps he can avoid the problems most of us face.

MY wife is not Diabetic, but she eats a LCHF diet to support me. She's also seen me lose 40+ pounds without trying so that's a big motivator for her.

I think it's important that we remind our loved ones that are eating LCHF that as Diabetics we "NEED" to be very strict about what we eat and keep my total carb intake as low as possible. As a non-Diabetic they can easily eat three times the carbs we do and still be way way below what an average American eats. I think they still can get the majority of the health benefits from the WOE and make it a whole lot easier to stick to.
