Looks like i need to go to another forum
Maybe no one here has current experiences with Ozympic. I know that I never will. Hopefully you have researched the potential risks vs benefits. It is your choice whether or not you take any medication.
Thanks Mbuster. what dont you like about it?
Ozempic and other GLP-Agonists from Bloodsugar101
GLP-1 Agonists: Ozempic, Wegovy, Victoza, Bydureon, Saxenda, Trulicity, Tanzeum, Byetta, and Rybelsus

TL:DR The GLP-1 drugs cause significant weight loss and improved blood sugar in 30% of those who take them over the short term, but that effect wears off. Research including a decade of reports to the FDA make it clear they also raise the risk of Thyroid Cancer, Pancreatitis and Pancreatic Cancer. The drug companies have convinced doctors to ignore this risk using poor quality, short term studies to support their arguments. These cancers may not show up for a decade or more.
You can read more about them on Bloodsugar100, linked above or can google for other reviews. Many Type 2s are running insulin production about wide open and taking something that prompts more insulin production is only a short term effect if the pancreas is capable of producing more. To me, the cancer risk that may come are not worth the BG benefits that may not last. I've been skeptical of most diabetes meds ever since I saw an endo that wanted to prescribe me Actos. I asked about all the bladder cancer lawsuits that were out there because of it, he said that was just a bunch of bunk.

That is just my take on it, doesn't mean I'm right. If someone else sees the benefits outweigh the risks in their case, doesn't mean they're wrong.

Every medication has some side effect. The question we always should ask ourselves is if the benefit is worth the risk.

Insulin therapy replaces that same hormone in the body; the main issue there is replicating the body's "just in time" mechanism. Metformin has, over many years, provided benefits with minimal side effects and no widespread identified long-term effects.

Medications like GLP-Agonists have more documented side effects and don't have the long history of insulin or metformin. Maybe eventually they (or a variant of them) will and they'll be considered another optimal treatment for Type 2 diabetes. In the meantime, we can urge potential users to read about the medication and decide if the benefit is worth the risk to them.

I have been on .5 of Ozempic for almost a year. I am a relatively slim diabetic, 5'8, 145 lbs. my weight also settles around my middle. I have not seen any dramatic weight loss. It has regulated my occasional swings in blood sugar readings, so I have had a good experience. I am on no other diabetic drug and my A1c is 6.1 to 6.5 during the last two blood work ups. As far as side affects from Ozempic, I have had none to date. (After 10 years of Metformin, I began to experience chronic diarrhea. My Endocrinologist suggested I stop taking Metformin immediately.... and the diarrhea STOPPED!) All drugs have side affects. I'm staying on Ozempic.
