I've always enjoyed your posts. Just wondered if your lower fat diet showed any change in your cholesterol numbers ?

Sure. It lowered my LDL by about 70 points. (I knew that it would--within months after adding cheese to my diet back in spring, 2008, my LDL had increased by even more than that.)

Sure. It lowered my LDL by about 70 points. (I knew that it would--within months after adding cheese to my diet back in spring, 2008, my LDL had increased by even more than that.)

Before the experiment (January 12, 2015):

•TOTAL CHOLESTEROL: 352
•HDL: 70
•LDL (CALCULATED): 270
•TRIGLYCERIDE: 61
•CHOLESTEROL, NON-HDL: 282

After three months (April 21, 2015):

•TOTAL CHOLESTEROL: 282
•HDL: 65
•LDL (CALCULATED): 203
•TRIGLYCERIDE: 68
•CHOLESTEROL, NON-HDL: 217

After six months (July 29, 2015):

•TOTAL CHOLESTEROL: 277
•HDL: 65
•LDL: 199
•TRIGLYCERIDE: 85
•CHOLESTEROL, NON-HDL: 212

I haven't had a lipid panel for a year, now. Waiting for my PCP to tell me she wants one.

Thanks. I know it's anecdotal but it is helpful to know what changes people have made and how it affected them. After I had been LCHF for about 6 months I had heard how so many had super cholesterol numbers and decided to quit taking a Statin. My numbers for cholesterol and triglycerides skyrocketed. I decided to stick it out for a while and saw gradual improvement and after about two years my cholesterol numbers are not bad at all. I guess my body just is slow to change. :smile2:

Is the chocolate just a taste treat for you, or is it an integral part of your diet goal?

It's a snack that doesn't do a job on my blood sugar levels. I think the 100% chocolate may have some health benefits, as well. And I do like chocolate.

@ShottleBop, I love the kind bars! I take the dark chocolate/peanut butter ones (17 carbs) with me on trips. Works great as a "oops there's no food for me to eat here" backup plan.

I remember back in the days, I tried quest bars and they had some funny math for their net carbs. I really liked the flavor/texture of them though. How's that working out for you?

Most of their carbs come from fiber. They don't mess up my blood sugars.
