I was wondering about something and wanted feedback, I just recently stopped taking my actoplus met to see what happens, it's been about 3 days now and my highest level was 114 lowest was 96 I don't drink soda or eat the junk food I used to eat, I have doctors appointment on the 15th should I keep taking the drug if I feel fine? Also I still take my blood pressure med and cholesterol Meds.

in my view if your BGLs are fine without the meds... why take them? But I'm not a doctor. I'm talking from a viewpoint that I feel meds have been unkind to me and caused another medical problem I now need to take 3x drugs for. I've posted about that already & you may have read about my stomach disorder and experience. But seriously, keep monitoring your BGLs and keep record... show your doctor and discuss this with your doctor. I haven't heard of the drug you mentioned, so I'm not sure if it has any side effects? Wishing you the best... let us know how you go. :D

that reading isn't too bad considering you had spaghetti with your meal. :D You will find some people here aim for less than 100. But 116 is a perfectly normal level I'm thinking (it's below 126) . I wish I had that level all the time... I have BGLs that can swing as high as 250 during the day and drop as low as 66. (I use the mmoL reading myself... just converted it to your reading). I'm on full time insulin... and I certainly need it.

I have never had a level that high when I got diagnosed my level was 370 2 years ago my a1c was 12.2 I went on a strict diet after 6 months my average level was 89 to about 115 my and a1c was 7.3 the next 3 months level was about the same and my a1c was 5.1 I stayed on the actoplusmet with no side effects so this is the first time no taking my diabetic Meds, I just took my level and it is 106 here is the strange thing I had a soda before bed, I just don't get this I didnt mean to have a soda it was just the only thing to drink at the time. I have not has a soda in months.

I am not sure about the Actos but the metformin part of your med builds up in your system. It may take several weeks of being off of it to see the real results.

That's what I was thinking, I think your right I think it will take weeks before I see any real activity or the wear off affects of the drug. But I also wonder if I eat right will I ever or even see a change?

If it were up to me, I would stay off the actoplusmet. It will take about 3 weeks for the actos to get out of your system. When you go to your doctor, tell them that you want metformin only.

That isn't a failure, One . . . it's just what is necessary to keep your low levels, as you mentioned in another thread. You have a long happy life ahead of you & maintaining low levels is what makes it possible. If it takes a few pills or a few injections or both, it's a small price to pay. :)

I agree with Shanny :D
I had hesitation about going on insulin myself... but seriously it's worked way better for me that oral meds ever did. Now that you're back on oral meds, just monitor if they're working for you or not.
