Well, after being recommended this site by a friend about a week ago, I finally decided to take the plunge and sign up.

I've been type 2 for over 6 years now and was put on Humilin at the end of January this year. Before that I was on six Metphormin, and one 45 mg pigliotezide a day along with blood thinners and blood pressure pills, lol...

Anyway, it's good to see there's somewhere where we can all chat instead of just reading up on the various sites out there for info on diabetes, and I might add, no necessarily understanding everything I've read...

Hello & welcome, Sandy! Know what you mean about reading the sites with so many "experts" writing stuff I can't even understand, and I'm the one who LIVES with it! Much better to visit with people who live the life and understand what we're going through - and I trust their advice a LOT more than what the "experts" say! ;) There is a ton of experience, knowledge & wisdom here - these folks have given me so much - couldn't do it without them. And I'm so happy you've joined us now - hope you gain as much here as I have.

Take care and visit often!

Thanks folks. I think while some of the sites that have all the medical info in them written by specialists and such are helpful, I was finding I had to start reading something, then follow several links to get to what I wanted to know, and in some cases some of the info was written in a way that was hard to understand.

The other thing that bugs me is that I have had dealings with a few Doctors and specialists, and they all seem to have a different answer to the same question, so that was leading to the confusion a bit.

While I'm a retired head chef, it's still good to be able to chat with others and see what's worked for them, so here's hoping I can learn a bit here and maybe pass on a bit of useful info at the same time...

It is a little confusing to say the least, the amount of times I've seen a GP and had him/her say one thing, then seen another GP or diabetic nurse and been told something completely different, I've just about lost count of all the differing opinions out there, lol.. I think the best thing we can do is find others experiences and find what works for us...
