About a month after I was diagnosed I saw my old bike hanging in the rafters of the garage. The bike had been there for nine years. It is an old Trek 820 Mountain Bike that is a heavy old beast. When I started riding it I had all I could do to go a quarter of a mile. Each time I rode I did more and more miles. I also found that during the times I rode my bike when I rode for time/distance that my BS. Eating Shot Bloks as I rode kept my BS's down. All part of many tests to find this out. So as I said in another thread I am going to go back to testing more. But everyday time I took the bike out and rode just a little bit longer of a distance. My longest trip was September 25th while visiting my inlaws out in North Dakota. I am not the fastest but was able to maintain a good average especially when I was faced with a 20 mph wind. Here is a link to that trip it ended up being 71 miles. I have had a bunch over 40 miles and a 62 that I did also. I love riding bike as it is not hard on the body and I can go long distances and keeping my heart rate down at a good level around 130. Can't wait for spring.
Trip
Since it is too cold out to ride now I have been doing spinning classes at a local health club and a couple days ago I started a program called Couch to 5K which is a nine week course to running a 5K with good times.
