I am pleased that my life story has been published on another site and is available in its new revised form with additions, deletions, completely edited for spelling and grammatical errors and with pictures added. The creator and owner of my home site made this announcement:

62 Years With Type 1 Diabetes - And Counting!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am thrilled to announce the publication of our first eBook, written by our very own Richard. Richard was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1945, just two short decades after the discovery of insulin. As he explains: "Prior to the discovery of insulin there were several treatments for diabetes. Those treatments included bleeding, opium, starvation, exercise and diets. A diet low in carbs and high in fat and protein was sometimes used. Without the availability of insulin these treatments extended the lives of diabetics by approximately one year."

When you stop to think about how little we knew about diabetes back in the early 1940s, the story becomes even more remarkable.

I want to publicly thank Richard for all of the time he took to catalog his experiences. It's an intriguing and personal look into the history of diabetes care in this country. I hope you find his story as inspiring as I do.

I am unable to give the site where the revised story can be read. If anyone is interested please send me a private message using that option on the upper right part of this page.

Sweety, I am not permitted to post links to other sites here. I would send you a private message with the link but you have chosen not to receive private messages. I am sorry. You can read the story in its unedited form here in the "Other Subjects" forum.

Hey Richard: :)

Did I tell you that you are Awesome?? You're Awesome!! :D I'm so Happy for you. I know it took a lot of time and effort for you to complete it. I'm Glad that they found it worthy of publishing. Is it going to be at a book store someday??? I'm sure that they could make that happen. You must be in 7th heaven. I truly enjoyed reading your Story here. Thank you for posting it. I sometimes still read a chapter here and there when I need some strength. Thanks again.

*Terrie* ;)

I am way short of awesome Terrie. I am a regular old guy who told part of his life story. No big deal. It is nice when people get something useful out of it though.

Thanks!

Well, that's what makes Life and People so interesting. What one may find uninteresting and usual, another would find important, inspirational....and Awesome. :D

Considering you have lived with Diabetes since you were a Little Fellow(way back then), you must know that you have accomplished much more than many healthy People have. Granted, I realize that your Parents, Anita, etc. had influence on you and helped a Great deal but you were the one who worked to get the "home runs" in order to "win the games". YW! ;)
