Hi Neil and welcome to the forum. To be honest I haven't read any books on diabetes so I really cant recommend one. There are several people here that usually have good ideas on books though and I am sure they will be along to help you out. IN the meantime, I hope you can get some inspiration browsing our forum and seeing that many people are living (and living well) with diabetes. It can be done with a little work and determination. We all have times that we fall off the wagon. Heh, I have fallen off many times and been dragged behind the wagon for miles! It happens. Such is life. But talking to people that *know* what you are going through is a *huge* help. I sincerely hope you will find this forum to be as helpful of a place as I have. Its made a really big difference to me to be able to talk, laugh, rant and rave to others that have been there and understand. Please feel free to offer any insights that you have learned living wih diabetes for the last few years and ask anything you need to. Trust me....someone around here always has an opinion on just about everything :D

Again, welcome and hope to see you often!

Hello Neil, welcome! I control my weight by limiting my carb intake to 130-150 grams per day. I also walk on roads with hills for one hour each day. I am 70 now and if I was younger I would do much more exercising. Diet and exercise is what an overweight diabetic needs. Good luck to you in the months ahead.

Hi Neil. We all fall off the wagon from time to time, and sometimes it is tough to get back on. I'm having a little bout of that myself!

Check out Gretchen Becker's books. Even though you're an experienced T2, it might help to get her "The first year-type 2 diabetes....". I've not read her diet books, but they may be very helpful.

Best of luck. Maybe we can both hop back in the saddle simultaneously!
