Hi , thank you for letting me be a part of this forum...I just found out 2 weeks ago that I am a type 2 diabetic....my doctor put me on oral medication....at 61years young is hard to adjust to this..so I am hoping to get some support and help and also maybe support others also as best as I can...
I am happily married, mother of 2 and grandma of 4...I totally love being a grandma...only wish I had more...I live on the MS Gulf Coast, USA.....I am no longer working as I am disabled due to a back injury so I spend a lot of time online....hugs Charangel

Hello Charangel, I like that name. Welcome to our community! I hope you get along well while adjusting to your diabetes. Are you using medication for your Type 2? A low carb diet and exercise are the best ways of avoiding high blood sugar.

I have been type 1 fo 64 years and I am doing very well. Let us know if you have any questions.

Richard

Hi thank you for your nice welcome...yes, I am on medication...it is Glumetza 500mg...I don't get a lot of excercise...I injured my back and am disabled but I can walk short periods of time so I plan on doing that more....I am just having problems adjusting to my diet.. my doctor said all I needed to do was cut back on bread and sweets but I don't eat much of that anyway...and I don't eat much of anything so now I am making it a point to eat small meals 6 times a day and keep track of my sugar by doing meter reading 2 hours after eating....my reading has gone over 270 yesterday and the day before but so far today has not gone over 165...my fasting was 135...When they did my sugar average it came back 8.5...my doctor says he may need to increase my meds....I was a nurse for 11 years before I hurt my back so you would think all this wouldn't be so hard for me but you never truly understand till you have to live thru it...didn't mean to write a book....hugs CharAngel
