Hi. I've never participated in any forum before but have been reading the forum on this site since my diagnosis back in February. I am Type 2 and at diagnosis had an A1c of 12.9 and fasting at 250. My last lab in early June was A1c 6.5 and 95 fasting. I am on Metformin 500 mg twice daily and was initially following ADA guidelines on diet but changed after a relatively short period of time to a low carb diet. After I read Dr. Bernstein's book and Blood Sugar 101 - I decided to test a breakfast of 1/2 C of oatmeal after 1 hour (not my GP's recommended 2 hr) and was horrified to find my BG near 200. I immediately started on a low carb diet. I feel like I have things under control but also know I have a lot more to learn. Also, since February I have increased my exercise to daily and have lost about 12 lbs. My goal is to get my numbers to 'normal'. I have found the discussions on this board very helpful - thank you.
