Hi all

I'm a 'back on the low-carb, measure often' type ii gal (well, geezer-gal) after a few years of foolishly stopping. Last A1c was 9.1 (worst ever), so I got motivated. Am taking 2,000 metformin XR, one in the AM, 2 at noon, 1 in PM (this eliminated gastric distress, makes sense biochemically). Managed to start getting fasting BG down to 100 or less, but post-eating is still dreadful though I'm being fairly careful about carbs. Weight has dropped 7 lbs this month, goody goody.

I'm a vigorous gardener/landscaper, but additional exercise really helps when I can talk myself into it.

Right now I'm annoyed 'cause I got a wasp sting 2 days ago. No reaction until last night when I became lethargic & this morning awoke with considerable swelling -- and my BG was up. I'm about to go outside (beautiful day) and try walking, then measure to see what happens. Never a dull moment with diabetes.

Anyway, I'm happy to find this forum. Some very good discussion, though I was surprised to hear of such divergent reactions to exercise.

Hi, 4thcorner. I hope your garden is doing well. It has been so hot here that the plants shut down so we gave up and stopped watering them. There towards the end the cucumbers got more bitter as time went on, we couldn't eat them. It's a shame. Besides the cukes, we had 16 tomato plants, green peppers and broccoli. It was nice while it lasted.

I was surprised to hear of such divergent reactions to exercise.
Certain diets work for some but not others, certain foods spike some but not others. Exercise lowers bg for some but raises it for others. Diabetes can be a wacky disease.

I hope you have been getting answers to any questions you might have. We're glad you decided to join us. Welcome.
