Hi!! I just got some less than enthusiastic news about my last blood tests. I eat low carb and am on Glucophage and Glyburide (sometimes cinnamon pills too) and I exercise about 5 hrs per week. I usually consume about 1000 - 1500 calories per day. I eat no sugar, NONE! My typical Blood sugar is 200 after I have eaten a small meal of about 300 calories. I weigh about 315 and my top weight was 360. My A1c was 9.4!!!!!
That really freaks me out. My triglicerides is 431!!! But my cholesterol is 120. It is very frustrating. I practically live on Miso soup (25 calories and 2 carbs) and Shiritaki Tofu noodles (20 calories and 2 carbs) and every now and then I have a can of tuna with low cal mayo and pickles.................
I am hungry and sick of it. I am willing to take any advice. Thanks in advance for any communication!

Princess, welcome to our community! You have been a Type 2 diabetic fot 20 years. After that length of time you have probably reached a stage where medicines are not working as well and they may eventually not work at all. There are other medicines like Byetta that your doctor may have you take. I assume you are taking Metformin now. If dosage increases and alternative medicines do not work then it will be necessary for you to use insulin. Type 2 diabetes is progressive and it is very common for for a Type 2 diabetic to use insulin wnen medicines begin to fail. I know several Type 2 diabetics who are using an insulin pump and are doing well with great control.

You are doing all the right things to achieve good control and they are not working. I hope your doctor is an endocrinologist (diabetes specialist) so that appropriate changes are made in your treatment. Good luck to you!

Richard
