Hello all,

This is one forum I didn't think I would ever need. :) But alas, here I am. I am 59 and considered a " pre diabetic " ----
I am not over weight and I take no meds, but try to follow a lower carb diet and stay active, but I really need to get serious with my diet and activity now........ I am a retired RN-- and am looking forward to learning from others on this forum.

Welcome to the Forum. I was dx'd 4 years ago when I was 56. I was not overweight, either and was very active in exercise. I guess what I thought was a healthy vegetarian diet wasn't so healthy for me as a diabetic. So now I am a meat eater again and try to do moderately low carb ( 45-70 carbs) a day. But it works, now I have almost normal bgs and am at my college weight ( 118) Not bad for an old gal.

welcome Birdwatcher :) you've got a good chance to keep those numbers low being pre-diabetic. I'm sure you'll find this a great place for support and info. Keep us posted on how you're doing.
