Hi there, I am a 21 year old female. I have had diabetes since I was 9 years old. I was lucky enough to get n insulin pump in 2001. I am noticing with time I am becoming more comfortable and more lazy with my diabetes =(. I am hoping to get back to old habits of checking more often =)

Hi Allo, welcome! I check my blood sugar 12-15 times per day. I have been doing it that often for many years. The more often you check and see the highs and lows, you can correct them and have more stable control. Stable control can lower your A1c and decrease the likelihood of having diabetes related complications.

I was diagnosed in 1945, when I was 6, and am very healthy. I doubt that I would be healthy after 66 years of type 1 without frequent testing and tight control.

Good luck to you in the months ahead, while you are testing more frequently.

Richard
