While waiting for my 670G pump to arrive the doc gave me a script for a months worth of insulin. She wrote the script for 300 units a day. Which is very close to what i currently use with pens. The pharmacy gave me 6 vials. According to my math that's 6000 units. If i take 300 units a day and if iuse every drop and don't waste any that's only enough for 20 days. Correct?

Did you ask the pharmacist about this not being the total amount the doctor prescribed?

I've had it happen that the pharmacy short-changed me on a prescription before.

I don't understand the whole switch from pens, to vials, to pump thing. In other words, you're using pens...so the pharmacy gives you vials instead of two boxes of pens? Anyway...

If this is your regular pharmacy they run from script to script. There's a chance that you still had 10 days worth of "pens" left...and the 6 vials made up the difference for the next 30 days, existential of the math here.

Most people find that switching to a pump reduces the needed insulin by about 20% .

But that does not answer the shortage.

300 Units per day?

Wow that sounds like a LOT of insulin. But maybe dosing with Novalog is very different than the Humalog I use?

But 300 units (times) 30 days = 9,000 units for a month. So that is what the pharmacy should have provided.
