My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 few months ago. She has been eating a 20 carb snack before going to bed and 2 unit of NPH (humlin N) to wake up between 7-6. Recently she has been wanting to eat more at bedtime (around 40 carbs: cereal and milk, or milk and cheese sandwich). we have dinner at 4 pm so by 8 she is getting hungry. I don't know what to do? i tried increasing her N, but she ended up being high for couple of hours until the NPH started to work and peak. should I mix her Humulin N with Humlog (fast acting). I appreicate your advice. This disease is overwhelming. she was doing well before, but recently I feel like I am chasing her numbers every few hours and starting to lose control and sense of how her body is reacting, and to top it all my little angle has been wanting to eat more. (she is a pretty active girl). any suggestion?
