Hi, is it important to count calories when doing ultra low carbing? I've tried ultra low carbing <20g per day but found myself to be overeating on proteins and fats... Picked up 5 kilos in a matter of 6-7 weeks! What can I do? I just crave food all the time. I'm type 2 with blood sugar reasonably under control without medicine. Seldom higher than 7- 8. Previously I tried low fat low carb low protein diet - mainly vegetarian and lots of raw food and lost weight. I'm heavily overweight though

Thanks for the reply. I've basically tried Atkins Induction.... Mainly meat, cream, eggs, butter, cheese. I especially crave fatty lamb meat. Have only eaten very little red meat the last 3 years. Initially thought that it is a temporary craving but it doesn't go away. Too afraid now to continue with low carb diet because of the weight gain.

Hi d33na... and other members as well - Waves from South Africa! I'm really thankful for this site and all the friendly assistance from all. Sometimes it is hard to suffer in silence and it is good to see all the support here. It gives one courage to continue the 'struggle' and to stay positive. Much appreciated!

Back to diet - i've followed a low carb, low fat, low protein diet for 3 years and lost 27 kilos but gained 10kg lately, most of that whilst doing low carb. I managed quite well on my previous diet but it is difficult to follow...mainly plant based and raw foods. My sugar control was excellent. I'm considering to go back to this diet but for the time being I'm enjoying the high protein and fats... Perhaps too much!
