Im a 48 year old very active woman and I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes without any type of glucose test (lucozade test or chocolate). I have never been into double figures on my reading and i am always around the 6 mark.

Do i have diabetes or have i been miss diagnosed?

Hello and welcome to Diabetes Forum! Did you have some type of symptoms that caused you to test your blood glucose to begin with? You say that you have never been into double figures on your readings and you have always been around the 6 mark, is this a fasting reading? Did your doctor run blood tests? If so, what was the result? I was diagnosed at the age of 40 and I found out that I had diabetes as a result of routine blood tests. I was at 125 or 126 fasting and that was enough to make the diagnosis of T2 diabetes. I would ask your doctor to run an A1C blood test.

Welcome Darragh. The glucose tolerance test is not the only definitive test for diabetes, although it is a good one. Find out if your doctor got an A1c and what that number was. If he didn't order an A1c, I agree with Breeze - ask him to order one.
