Hi all. I posted here a couple of weeks ago when I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I am on no medication, just trying to control w/ diet and exercise.
I am still waiting for the doctor to refer me to an endo (jeez, what is taking so blasted long?) and really feel like I am going it alone right now when it comes to diet. Since being diagnosed, I am watching labels very carefully and eating lots of protein and very few carbs. This is a whole new way of eating for me and in the past 4 or 5 days, I have had chronic diarrhea. Could the sudden change in diet bring on the change in bowels? Obviously my body has been so used to the crap (no pun intended) it's been getting that it's probably in shock from getting healthy food!
Anyone have any suggestions? I have some kaopectate, but it says do not use it if you are diabetic without consulting your doctor. Problem is, trying to reach my Dr. is like pulling teeth sometimes.
I've thought about eating some bran flakes with nonfat milk, but since I haven't seen the endo/nutritionist yet, I don't even know if I can have them.
Help!
