I hope I remember this correctly:
In one of his teleseminars, Dr. Bernstein talked about this. He suggested using the alternate testing location top to the lancing device, and using it on the child's butt when they are asleep. He said they are usually unaware that it has even happened. I think he may have been suggesting this for a diabetic child, to see if they have gone too low during the night, but it seems to me (as a non-insulin dependent Type 2) that it may also work as a random test just to check.
I'll try to find that part of the recording and correct if I do not remember this right.
