Hello,
I don't post that often, but read. For the last couple years my blood sugar has gotten worse. I'm on Humalog now and a sliding scale, so to speak. Most of the time I do my own thing because the sliding scale was not working. I used to control my bg with diet alone. But even doing low carb (30g/day) and now and then going a little higher or lower, my fasting bg and my pp bg kept creeping up. So now i'm on Humalog.

I have been reading about the Protein Sparing Modified Fasting diet, which is an off and on diet where you are basically eating extreme low calorie, high protein to build muscle or not lose muscle while doing this and not more than about 20 to 30g carb/day. Calories are usually lower than 800/day. It's not a way of life but a diet to jump start or accelerate weight loss, go into ketosis, restart yourself on keto, or to lose fat fast. It's done usually every other day or 3 days/week... it varies according to each person. I'm thinking about doing this and seeing what affect it will have on my blood sugar and weight. I have not been able to lose weight though I've tried everything that used to work for me. Even intermittent fasting didn't work... I gained weight actually after a week of that. So frustrating. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with this and can offer any information, help, experience, whatever. Thanks

I thought a PSMF diet was restricting calories every day for a few months and then slowly add back calories after that. I'd be interested in hearing how it goes for you when you start.

It can be done several different ways. Maria Emmerich has a book about it and talks about it on YouTube and her website.if you google it. I had planned to start today but the protein bread on her site I made last night that I planned on using for my breakfast was unpalatable. I threw it out, so unfortunately I'm going to have to tweak this to make it possible for me. Breakfast is what I'm having a hard time with. The rest of the day I think I can handle. Not giving up yet... just have to ditch the protein bread. Tasted like styrofoam.

Thanks for the info, I will look at it.
That must have been bad if something other than cardboard tasting.
Good luck with your bread search. There are a few good bread substitutes out there I've heard.
