Last July/ Aug my A1C was 5.9 My doctor decided to send me to and endocrinologist because I had had some fluctuations in blood sugar on the metformin and I had protein in my urine not enough to really be concerned but she wanted to make sure she was not missing something. She took me off the metformin because of the side effects and said we would go with what he decided for me. The endocrinologist did the A1C with one of those over the counter 20 uses then throw away meters and said it was 5.4 still when I went in 2 weeks ago said it was 5.4 again but I have had some 200's and it ranges from fasting 110-115 to 160 after meals (2hr) I am wondering could his A1C be wrong?
