I am on a low carb forum and they have brought up "Just Like Sugar". Is anyone familiar with this? I want to hear from the hard core diabetics...which you know I am one too. If this has all ready been discussed show me where. The bag is like 97 carbs and 96 fiber. I don't do net carbs anyway but was just wondering how it effects blood glucose.

Hi, I am familiar with "Just Like Sugar," I stumbled upon it while researching Inulin, a pre-biotic fiber often made from chickory root. I am looking for a way to improve my gut health/increase my fiber in order to lower cholesterol.

Just Like Sugar's main ingredient is Inulin which is a soluble fiber that cannot be digested but rather is ferrmented in the colon by good bacteria, feeding them and increasing their number. (At least that's what it's supposed to do.)

Just Like Sugar contains lemon peel zest in addition to Inulin and this may be an issue for some. Like all things Diabetes one food does not work for all. The lemon zest may spike you and the only way to know is to test.

If you just want pure Inulin (which is mildly sweet) you can order that on Amazon and again, test to see if you can tolerate it. Again, it is an indigestible carb so it should not raise BS or spur an insulin response.

I have been taking it and I see no effect on blood sugar at all, but I feel that it does somehow make me more hungry. I haven't figured out if this is a real or psychological effect, it's only been a couple weeks :)
