Hi All,

Walmart has stopped carrying test strips for my Relion Micro meter at its stores (I can get them a Walmart's web site, but I really don't like this kind of stuff being tracked).

Walmart has a substitute called 'Relion Premier Compact", but I can't find any accuracy evaluatins of it on the web. The exception is

Investigation of the Accuracy of 18 Marketed Blood Glucose Monitors | Diabetes Care (It won't let me post the address)

But they want $35 to read it for one day and I am not about to pay them if I do not even know if the Relion Premier Compact is even in the study. (Plus, ethically, this study should be made public knowledge anyway.)

You guys know how accurate the Relion Premier Compact is?

Many thanks,
-T

Haven't seen much as far as reviews except Walmart sites. A lot like it for an easy to see display and cheeper strips, some say its accurate some say its not, but most don't like the larger blood sample it needs, lack of tiem and date stamp, and only 10 readings being retained.

Cool...How about going to the Introduction forum and tell us a little about yourself, that will get you to 3. After the forum recognizes you have 5 posts you should be able to add links.

>please don't just post repeats, I'm deleting the one above.

Do you have access to

Investigation of the Accuracy of 18 Marketed Blood Glucose Monitors
http care diabetesjournals org content 41 8 1681.figures-only
if so, does it have anything on this meter?

I only read one reading and I write it down on a running sticky note. This is why I adore the Relion Micro. If my morning GB rises above 110, I take direct action to get it back down under 100. I don't do the A1c as I have issues with tests that are that inaccurate (plus minus 50%). I trust the fructosimine test, but I can't afford it. And it is all beside the point anyway as I take my morning GB every morning anyway. Interesting, I have the dawn effect and my GB is usually lower during the day.

I am starting to distrust review on for sale web sites now that I know that people are paid for reviews, both positive and negative. I actually know a person that makes a living doing paid reviews.

Yup, that is the place. They only tested the "Walmart ReliOn Ultima". Bugger. Maybe I just swallow my privacy and buy test strips directly from walmart dot com.

Thank you!

By the way, I got tagged for links again in your quote. Is that the way the system is suppose to work?

Not sure what you mean by "tagged", but until you have 5 approved posts, reply with quoting blocks the link in the reply.

I read on a feline diabetes forum that it is the same meter as an ArkRay and their strips work with the the Walmart one that is being discontinued. Ill add a link to the site in a minute.

>Googling "relion premier compact reviews", one hit was a feline diabetes forum link that talked about Walmart discontinuing the Prime Confirm and Micro meters, It is about the 9th hit down.
NEW INFO--The ARKRAY GLUCOCARDO1 SENSOR (which is the exact same meter as the Confirm) is NOT being discontinued (at this time). The Relion/Micro ARE......so if you own a Confirm/Micro, you can still get strips from ADW but you'll have to remember to order then in advance so you don't run out at the worst possible time!

These are the strips that will work in both the Relion Confirm and Micro https://www.adwdiabetes.com/product/4047/arkray-glucocard-01-sensor-blood-glucose-test-strips

Make sure you order early enough that you don't run out at the worst possible time (like when your kitty decides to go deep sea diving at 2am on a Sunday morning!)

The link it tagged me on were in your quote, not my reply. So I removed the quote

I noticed this in your signature. Why are you wasting your time on cholesterol? There is no evidence from auto posy studies that blood serum cholesterol is in any way related to arteriosclerosis. Here is where this nonsense comes from:

http // www . youtube . com / watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xbFQc2kxm9c (mcgovern and cholesterol)

'Many researchers were at the hearing, captured on TV by CBS and on YouTube, and objected strongly to the lack of research to back such a dietary philosophy. McGovern’s response: “we Senators don’t have the luxury that a research scientist does of waiting until every last shred of evidence is in.”'

McGovern had some militant vegetarians on his staff.

Thank you! I should test then against the ones I have left from Walmart.

I am pretty good at guessing what my GB is. I only really get into trouble when I get sick, as I am an eater, as opposed to a barfer, when I get sick and I eat too much.

I started taking it (Pravastatin) after quad bypass surgery because of its anti-inflammatory benefits, not its cholesterol lowering properties. I have reduced from one daily to one every other day and now at one every 3 days. The results posted are with the every 3rd day dose. I am getting some nasty reminders from my prescription mail order service that I need to reorder because I may be getting low on this vital prescription.

Their benefits are very little and your are consuming a controlled dosage of a poison. Turmeric is a much better anti inflammatory and it has side benefits as it is actual medicine. Also make sure you get your homocystine checked.

Carbohydrate poisoning is insidious: heart disease, obesity, T2.

I take Turmeric too, thanks.

Hope you can keep using your Confirm meter until some come along than meets your needs. It seems odd that Walmart is not making known that the meters are being discontinued. People are going into the store to get strips and they just don't have them anymore.

Ginger also helps. Side benefit: it is more effective on motion sickness than Dramamine and has no drowsiness associated with it. (There is an old study out there in Lancet where thy spun folks around in a centrifuge to make the motion sick and tested ginger against Dramamine.)

A friend on mine broke his hip from the disorientation caused by cholesterol meds (poisons). Hurt like the dickens. These meds are liver toxins. Not a good idea for someone with T2. And cholesterol is the precursor of every hormone in your body. And T2's have hormone problems!

What is your daily Glycemic Load? (I keep mine under 15.)

With Walmart, it is common for them to be out of stock on diabetic supplies, so you never know is something is discontinued or just out of stock. Walmart is not really a very nice store -- they are just cheap

I try to stay under 30 grams of carbs a day. Try is the key word, it is usually mixed nuts that make me exceed that on occasion, like last night, but I'm usually pretty adherent to my limit.

I try to keep mine between 30 and 60 with a total Glycemic Load for the day under 15.

Here is a good web site for Diabetics:

https://nutritiondata.self.com/
it lists Glycemic Load, among other things.

Here is one of those nuts your should not eat:

Nuts, cashew nuts, dry roasted, without salt added

https://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/nut-and-seed-products/3093/2

1 cup (who eats a cup?):
carbs: 44.8 g
calories: 786 kcal
fiber: 4.1 g
Glycemic load: 15

Here is one you should eat:
Nuts, macadamia nuts, dry roasted, without salt added

https://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/nut-and-seed-products/3124/2

1 cup (who eats a cup?):
carbs: 17.7 g
calories: 948 kcal
fiber: 10.6 g
Glycemic load: 0

I don't know about you, but after 1/4 of a cup of mac, my jaws are just plum tired!
