Riva Greenberg is a Facebook friend, and she writes wonderful blogs, articles and books about diabetes. Riva is a type 1 diabetic. She interviewed me on the phone for an hour several months ago, gathering information for her next book. Here is a recent example of her articles, concerning diabetes myths.

I am always amused by dogmatism. Of course this is just the opinion of a senile old man.

Truth: Twenty percent, 1 in 5 people who get Type 2 diabetes, are not obese or even overweight. Yet, most are, and there's controversy whether being overweight is a cause of Type 2 diabetes or a result. Type 2 diabetes is caused by insulin resistance, which is believed to be influenced by genetics, being overweight and sedentary. As for the last statement, only type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition where one's own cells attack the body's insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas.

No Riva, you can not state that you really don't know what you are talking about {which is believed to be influenced} and then dogmatically state that it is not an autoimmune condition {only type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition} and still maintain credibility. At least not with me.
