I have become a smarter shopper now that carbs is such an important part of my diet and adjusting my insulin based upon the amount of carbs that I eat at meal time. I went shopping today and looked at every label. I even bought a different type of bread, it wasn't whole grain, but it is a higher fiber, high in calcium and lower in sodium bread choice, it is by Wonder and it is called "Smart-White", 2 slices have a net 18 carbs. I haven't tried it yet but it is the lowest carb bread that I have bought. A positive step for me. I don't like whole grain bread and I am always looking for a way to lower my carbs when it comes to bread. I also bought some Right Bite snacks. There are 100 calories in each pack and about 12 carbs per pack. This is good for me because I don't have to weigh the food or touch it. I just use the pack as a serving and I feel satisfied. I also bought reduced fat light string cheese, another positive step for me. I also bought some different flavors of diet Coke, hoping to find something that tastes good. A good shopping day for me. I will repeat, very positive steps for me! I am a happy camper!:):D;)

Well my shopping "coup" today was jicama! None of the little markets nearby carry such exotic produce, but we went to the BIG city today (big as in over 15k population but less than 20k :D) Anyhow, my Krogers store that carries my Dreamfields also had nice jicama, so now the fun begins. Some use it like spuds, cutting it like fries or fried potatoes, but it's also recommended for use raw in salads - even shredded like slaw. So stay tuned - if anyone has experience with it already - speak up! :D
Shanny, what is jicama?:mmph:
