If you leave in the US, your wife will be getting an 1hr GTT at around 26-30 weeks, depending on that result and her OBGYN parameter, they usually want the 1hr # less than 140, if her # is greater than that, she will then do the 3hrs GTT which she will get 4 blood draw in 3hrs. If she have 2 out of 4 numbers elevated, she will be put on a diet and work out plan, and if that don't work then she will be put on inuslin injection.

I know here in New Zealand they are a lot stricter on numbers in gestational diabetes than type 1 or 2.

E.g. and a1c of 6.1 is considered *great* control in type 2.. however it's considered very poor control in gestational diabetes.

I think it's definitely worth it to get her to a lab testing place of an OGTT, how many weeks is she?

I myself had an a1c of 6.1, the midwife said that is definitely not good enough and said that its an average of way too many "7's".

Besides, even if your wife passes the test it is a much healthier way of eating and having optimum health for birth can only be a good thing
