My doc sort of ignores the notion of stress on scores. I've had an extremely stressfull couple of days and scores have gone from about 7 to 11 throughout the day.

Anyone else experience these kinds of shifts?

Yes Elsinore, I had those kinds of shifts before I learned about carb counting and started determing my bolus dosages by the number of carbs I was having in my meals and snacks. Now that you are Type 1, what insulins are you using? Do you take your basal insulin twice each day? If you are not familiar enough with carb counting then you could see a CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) to learn about that and many other things too. Good luck with your control!

Hi Richard. I'm taking Lantus before bed, gradually increasing the dosage. At a dosage of 19 for several days my scores were very good, averaging about 5 to 7. When my scores got up to 12 two days ago, I increased it to 22 units. Today scores are 10.

I have been seeing a diabetic dietician who has eased me back on carbs (also a celiac and gluten free food has very high sugar and carb counts).

As a bit of history, just prior to being diagnosed as type 1, I eliminated carbs completely eventually driving ketones up causing concern with my specialist. Dietician and doctor insisted I add carbs back but still am not more than 60 - 80 gms per day I'd say.

Doc is still keeping me on Metformin and Glixaside (?) while we await antibody tests to absoultely confirm type 1.
