hello everyone,my name is mark 32 years and i am diabetic since 6 years i was on metformin 500 mg twice and since 2 days my doctor change it to diamicron mr 30. once daily. my last Ha1c was 6.1 but because i begin progressive weight loss about 6 kg in 6 months the doctor change the metformin to diamicron.really i hate oral hypoglycemic drugs because of hypoglycemia.i decided today to begin the diamicron but to take 1/2 tab not one tab. well it was not a good idea my pp was 260!!!! this is my 1st time to see this number in my device.well i think i have to try the full dose and get used of hypo:)

Welcome Mark! Glad to meet you! It is a good thing that you tested and found that you needed the full dose of Diamicron. Be sure to test when you feel low and treat accordingly. Take care and hurry back!

thanx guys. i am really in need for support. the happy days of metformin is gone away.i will see what will happen when i take a full dose of diamicron today.

You can always keep glucose tabs in your pocket just in case you go a little too low. Since diamicron is not marketed in the US, I have scant knowledge and no experience with it. I just know it is one of the sulfonylurea drugs which stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin. Keep up posted on how you're doing, okay?

ok shanny. really i found it strange not to marketed in USA. i found a lot of information about it and it seems good. i toked it since 6 hours now, no hypoglycemia and readings is not good.1 st hr after eating 205 2 hrs 166. 4 hrs 160.may be beacuse this is just the 1st dose.i will keep monitoring my blood sugar for 1 week and call my doctor.

You prob'ly remember it took metformin quite awhile to reach maximum blood levels . . . do the sulfonylureas build up like that too? I have no idea . . .

i read about diamicron that dose can be increase if the blood sugar level still high after 2 weeks.so i guess it will build up as metformin.
reading now after 6 hr is 102 not bad as a start.
