I'd be a contestant!

No, I think it should be straight up competition for best results. To be meaningful, you'd have to divide the contestants not just into T1 and T2 but also like boxers into "weight classes" based on severity or stage of their diabetes. You could use initial A1C or some other measure.

"And the winner in the 12.0 - 14.0 class is..."

Let the opinions and approaches meet head one - but "fairly" by dividing the classes. It would be kind of like the "Diet Wars" in cyber space but would yield actual useful results instead of just a lot of closed threads!

This would be good except A1C's are not the best measure of control with out including their standard deviation.

I know, that's why I said "or some other measure". The point is if you want to compare different approaches to diabetes, you need to separate between very mild "caught-early" cases and more advanced ones with very little pancreas left.

We see this all the time on these boards. One person will boast, "I can eat nn grams of carbs per day and have excellent numbers." Then, someone else will chime in and say, "That would make my numbers skyrocket! That's what I eat in a week."

The, we all do the big KUMBAAAAYA called YMMV.

Turns out maybe the first one was diagnosed with an A1C of 8 but the second on started at 16. OF COURSE they require different regimes for a favorable result. No surprise there. Yes, I know it's not a perfect measure, but we would need some way to stick to "apples to apples" in the proposed show - which I really hope happens!

Mind you, what I intended for the "weight classes" was INITIAL A1C (at diagnosis). I didn't really discuss measures of success which would be various things I suppose.
