I just watched that this morning (found it on Tom Naughton's blog). It's insane how many foods contain sugar and in such quantities! For example they listed all my favorite childhood cereals and each one was over 50% sugar by weight.
Interesting tidbit from the video: the reason why you will see an ingredient label list "sugar", "beet sugar", "HFCS" and "Corn Syrup" separately is because when those sources of sugar are added together under a single ingredient it would have to be listed first. By using multiple sources of sugar, they can disguise this. grrr!
I wonder if their distinction between sugar and starch is because of the fructose in sugar or because sugar is so processed and striped of any accompanying nutrients? I watched Lustig's lecture "The Bitter Truth" and he focused primarily on fructose as the culprit. But from my perspective, starches are just as bad as pure sugar at raising my BG.
