So my boyfriend is a type 1 insulin dependent diabetic. Since the age of 5 he has been injecting himself he is now 30 years old. Up until last week he eats sweets and cakes like no tommorow chocolate etc and would gorge in as much as he could. No excercise or anything.
He suffers from erectile disfunction along with everything else along that goes with it. ( I think I have actually posted on this forum along time ago but I couldnt remember my name so I had to make a new user name, please forgive me ) anyway....
We often spoke about his low libido and how he wasnt arroused often. It really upset me and I started to think there was no hope.
So all of a suddern he starts getting back into boxing and going to the gym 5 times a week and doing cardio and weights. Changed his diet and now he has done a 180... his moods are like 90% better. I am wondering is this to do with his diet change? He is very focused on himself ...
Question is ... is this change due to his diet and could it happen over a 3 week period?

Hello: :)

Wow! That's Excellent that your Boyfriend has turned his Life around. That's a Big accomplishment. I hope that he keeps it up.

Sexual arousal of the Male involves emotions, the brain, muscles, blood vessels and hormones. Erectile dysfuntion(ED)can be the result of any imbalance to any of these systems.

I can't say why he was eating so much of those Bad foods. Low blood sugars is a possibility, or low self-esteem/depression, a Terrible sweet tooth, etc.

I don't think there is a specific time range for a Male to retrieve his sexual desire. It is possible that 3 weeks of proper Diabetes maintainence is all it took for your Boyfriend. You did say that he had arousals, just not too often. When Diabetes is better managed, a Diabetic does feel much better mentally and physically.
