Shelf Bottle Furniture Building Shelving

Taking a vitamin C tablet twice daily can benefit people with type 2 diabetes by lowering elevated blood sugar levels across the day and minimizing spikes in blood sugar after meals, new research has found. A new study from researchers at Deakin University shows that taking 500mg two times a day also lowered blood pressure in people with type 2 diabetes, suggesting benefits for heart health too. If I were to take every supplement recommended for diabetes, I would need a special set of shelves to store them all, along with a second job to pay for them all.

That being said, this study may have gotten my attention. I might test this for a bit to see if I notice a difference.

Thanks, Cricket!

Here's a link to the actual report. It looks like a fairly-well-conducted study.

I did note the participants ate a fairly standard diabetic diet (55% carbohydrates) and the researchers note that they didn't study long enough to see a significant reduction reflected in the participants' A1cs.

It would be interesting to see a study with people eating LCHF/keto to see if the reduction would exist in the absence of large amounts of carbs. But it seems like it wouldn't be that hard to conduct our own informal study; ascorbic acid tablets are not expensive and the symptoms of too much ascorbic acid are largely digestive and can be remedied by cutting back/stopping.

Would all the supplements recommended be satiating enough to offset spending on foods and you could just keep your day job? LOL

I take 1 gram of vitamin C per day in the form of ascorbyl palmitate (in addition to the 500 mg of ascorbic acid in my multivitamin). If I feel like I may be getting a sniffle, I might pop one or two chewable Vitamin C (500 mg ascorbic acid) in my mouth.
