Hi, Diana: I have a friend who went to Mexico for her surgery. It cost her about $ 12k so not cheap. She is very pleased with it. I considered going with her but decided against it and bought Dr. Mercola's No Grain Diet book. He recommends EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) which I was already familiar with. This was about a year ago. I have lost 40 lbs and kept it off despite all kinds of problems with allergies, etc. that have made it more difficult. I should really lose another 30 lbs but can't exercise much right now (back problems) so am pretty happy with being 170 lbs instead of 210.

The Mercola Advanced Diet is the one for diabetics and it's a toughie but with EFT to help with cravings it is very healthy and I, at least, feel like a million bucks compared to before starting it. Dr. Mercola says the key is to find food that is both diet-compliant AND you really like and make menu plans out of it. This has worked great for me.

For myself, my staples are spinach salad with dried cranberries and fresh walnuts, smoothies of almond milk, whey powder, stevia and some flavoring (choice of cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla, etc.) and flax seed (raw, ground) porridge (the only grain allowed!). Add in about 9 oz meat/chicken/fish daily and all the veggies you can stand. I enjoy the food very much but your diet might look very different. It's almost all organic but still a lot cheaper than the way I used to eat.

I do cheat occasionally but go right back on the diet, so no real harm done.

Anyway, this has worked for me and I can't imagine every going off this diet or not using EFT practically daily. You also have the incentive of having to wait 5 years or spend a lot of money for surgery. May as well use some of that time to try something new.

You don't even have to buy the book, at least at first, as there is lots of info online to get you started. PM me if you want to. I'll check my profile to make sure it's enabled.

Best of luck to you. I know how scary it is to feel you are out of options.
