Hello. A friend of mine went to the Diabetes Institute today after trying unsuccessfully to manage his disease with his GP over the last year. He is a 205 lb man, has suffered some kidney damage already, as well as other side effects.
He said the nutitionist told him over the next 2 weeks not to eat more than 60 calories per meal, 3 meals a day. I am wondering if anyone has ever heard of such a drastic diet? What I am afraid of is that he misunderstood, but I don't want to just question him about it and insult his intelligence. I know they want him to shed some pounds quickly but he works in construction. I don't see how he can maintain that low of a calorie intake for any length of time without passing out on the jobsite.
My father was just put into a nursing home 2 weeks ago at the age of 58 because of complications from this disease. So I am not a complete stranger to it, but am in no way an expert. Please tell me if any of you have been advised to cut calories like this at anytime during your treatment....
