Hope I'm posting in the right part of the forum for this. Please feel free to move this if there's a better place for it.
I'm prediabetic and have been using Victoza (started at 1.2 daily, in the AM) since October. Aside from the first few days of the basic and mild side effects (nausea, headache, feeling of fullness, etc.), I thought Victoza was a miracle. Lost about 20 lbs (combined with exercise) in 2-3 months and no more spikes and crashes during the day. Up until about December, I was feeling great. Then I started to get extremely tired and experiencing brain fog during the late morning, beginning around 11AM and progressively getting worse as the day went on. It was affecting my job performance as well. Thought it was my thyroid but that checked out fine (I'm on thyroid meds). I decided to cut back to .6 the past couple of weeks and my energy level seemed to get better, until just a couple of days ago, then the tiredness & brain fog returned. Today I did .6 plus 5 clicks and as usual, I started feeling so tired around 11:00. Around 1:00 I decided to check my BG at my mother's (I don't monitor. Never been told to.). It was 84, and that was after oatmeal and coffee at 9:30, then a hard boiled egg, an orange, and a small handful of nuts throughout the morning. I'm beginning to wonder if I no longer need the Victoza, or if I need something else? Isn't a BG reading of 84 a bit low, even after eating something for most of the morning? My doc/RNP did tests last month for parathyroid & hypercalcemia (high calcium in the blood) but all returned negative. Any suggestions/comments? I'll be in touch with my doc to follow-up too.
