Did anyone else experience sudden uncontrollable weight gain without a change in diet or activity before they were diagnosed?
I gained about 100 pounds in about 10 years after I started experiencing diabetic symptoms, but nothing had changed...i was actually eating healthier than ever and was always on the go walking all over the city or riding my bike.
I was tested every year for diabetes and always told my blood sugar was normal, but continued to gain weight and suffer symptoms. I finally came across Pre-diabetes and insulin resistance through the internet and asked my doctor if this was what was happening to me and he agreed it could be and put me on metformin.
I have found that when my blood sugar is stable I start losing weight rapidly, but then when my blood sugar destabilizes I start to gain again. I haven't been able to keep it stable so I struggle not to gain more weight all the time.
I eat very healthy, but do admit that I am not as active ow as i was several years ago. I have a few physical limitations that interfere with my ability to excercise stemming from a serious car crash when I was 10 that get worse as I age.....predictably.
I am curious because I lost a lot of weight when I was pregnant and had to take insulin. I am wondering if the insulin and stable sugar was what caused me to lose the weight then.
