Winter & Snow

I wish I could move to a warmer climate. I can't stand the winter season in Ohio. We got about 3" of snow last night and it is bitterly cold.
Ugh, three more months of this......:(

I have to agree with you. I was complaining about two weeks ago. Being outside makes life so much easier and healthier. You are outside away from.the refrigerator and more active to keep the carbs down.

I've been complaining about the heat here... could do with a bit of cold I reckon (just not too cold though). :)
I live in Canada, a little outside of Calgary. I'm at a high elevation and not far from the mountains and we usually only have TWO snow-free months. (July and August.) 99% of the time first snowfall of the year is September, and my backyard almost always has snow along the south fence well into June.)

Today my sister borrowed my car (well, really my wife's car... I drive a truck) to visit family in Edmonton. She ended up hitting a patch of black ice and got hit by a massive wind gust at the same time... spun around and smashed into the guard rail. Luckily she's OK, but both the police and the tow-truck driver say the car is totalled.

So yeah, I hate winter too. Especially today.

Glad my sis is OK though - the car is easily replaceable.

@beefy - geez that would be scary for your sis... glad she's Ok. We don't get snow here at all... can get hail if a storm hits and that can make things a bit white... although we had a severe hail storm Mar10 and it caused a lot of damage... so not keen on hail. We have a hot summer this year... very hot earlier than usual.
...We don't get snow here at all...
... am packing my bags. Will be there in about 16 hours, hope that's ok. :D
I don't mind the winter once my blood adjusts. We have about 3 inches of snow here in Cleveland and it was about 16 this morning. I try to go out and walk most days, I just bundle up. I think I hate hot summers with 90+ weather more than cold winters. Beefy, one of our favorite places to vacation is up in Jasper . My husband always says he wants to retire there. I'll have to tell him about the 2 snow free months. We were there in July.
Winter can be a beast here in Ohio. I hate when your car doors are frozen. There are not many ways to get in your car. I don't have a garage and the car sits in the driveway and there is nothing to protect it from snow and ice. My garage was turned into a bedroom for me about 35 years ago. I am not sure my Father thought about what affect leaving the car out in the open during winter. We needed the bedroom because I could no longer live in a bedroom with my sister, she was driving me crazy!
That used to happen when my daughter lived with us. There is a spray you can buy, just don't store it in your car. When I lived in Virginia that happened all the time because we didn't have a garage
In Central Ohio the weather forecast is calling for 5-8" of snow by Wednesday. I guess it is part of the snow storm that hit Atlanta really bad. I guess it is time to get the ice melt out and the snow shovel!
Schools here are closing already . . .

When I first moved here from Colorado, I thought they were a bunch of wimps, shutting down everything at the first flake of snow. Then I considered our narrow/hilly/winding back roads - many are just gravel - and how would I like MY kids riding around in a school bus on those slick roads? If you don't have to go out, then STAY HOME! That's my motto! :D

while we're talking weather... say a prayer for all those here on QLD on east of Australia as they are facing devasting floods right now.... the guy that worked on co-ordinating clean up for New Orleans is there assisting apparently... but the affected area is massive, including the capital city of Brisbane now... Germany & France together in land mass (maybe more now).

ps... I heard this morning on news that diabetics there are struggling to get medication.... I guess other people needing medication would be in trouble too.
When I woke up the snow is falling at a steady pace, the flakes aren't real big but I think this might be quite a storm. Schools are closing early and level 1 snow emergencies are popping up in several counties.
Too bad most people in Ohio don't know how to drive in snow...:D

Gosh, I hope that help gets to the diabetics soon. I hope that everything is OK over there!
Yeah, we got hit decently yesterday. About 5 inches of snow from the time it started falling Sunday until sometime last night. It was 4 degrees F when I went to school this morning. My girlfriend is in Columbus, Ohio and she is trying to go through Atlanta back to Wichita today. Since all three of those places have been hit with snow, I am not feeling very optimistic right now.

Hey, your girlfriend is in my area. I live in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. It is a suburb of Columbus. I hope she gets back home soon, at least get her out of Ohio, they cancel everything here when the snow falls.
Her flight leaves at 6:30 I think. They haven't cancelled it yet. *fingers crossed*
They freak here if they forecast an inch of snow... It's like snowmagedan.... After living in Maine for 6 years we just laugh
Its even below freezing here and there is talk of snow possible this week...and I am in San Antonio :(
