HI Everyone!!! I have been a bit out of it lately due to work.. Sorry got to learn how to balance my life and midnights! 3rd shift is hard work! lol I took a job with a mobile lab.. so I go into nursing homes, private homes and group homes and draw blood all night long. Then I head into the office to process and check in my specimens. We have been so busy the last few weeks that it has been complete nutso. I enjoy the job.. the hours are a bit much, I typically start around 11:30pm to midnight and get done (lately) around 2pm!!! Yes you read that right straight 14+ hrs a day! I thought for sure that the midnights would mess with my sugars and then throw in the long hours and I woudln't have been shocked to see my sugars up/down! NOPE they have been perfect! lol I have been in just complete shock and AWEEE over it! I even thought maybe my monitor was off so at one of the facilities I asked a nurse to use their and BAMM same reading! GO figure that one out! So anyways I think I am starting to balance things out-- strange that the body needs sleep ( LOL).. so be looking for my smiling little face ... I will be here!!! Take care everyone and hope your holidays ( you will hear from me before that but don't want to forget to wish it) are wonderful and blessed!

My gracious Meg, I could never have worked 14 hours without having terrible problems with my control. You amaze me. I hope your control stays in check! Good luck and happy holidays to you too!!

Hi Meg: :)

Sorry, I missed this one also. Thank you! As my *Happy New Year 2009* thread reveals, definitely all MY Best Wishes to you Hon.

I'm so Happy that you are at a job that you enjoy.....except for the time and too many hours spent, of course. Thank Goodness you have leeway with breaks.

The nightshift isn't too much of a problem to regulate your sugars once your body and mind get used to it but a 14 hour job...geez. The most hours I worked was 7(paid lunch and breaks). Okay except for my Home Job, raising our Kids, my Hubby and whatever Pet that our Kids said They'd feed and take for walks, clean the cage, etc. ). For that job multi-tasking is a Much needed asset...and 30 hours in a day would be Nice too. You would know that Meg. :D I'm Happy that you're Life is becoming the way it should be.

p.s. Everybody calls you Phlebs., Vampires and Blood-Suckers behind your backs, you know. :p

p.p.s. If I'm in a hurry with no time to eat, I test first then I usually grab a juice box and a banana to eat in the car.
