Your Favorite Restaurant(s)

Even though we are supposed to eat sensibly, especially being on Keto or being diabetic......we sometimes cheat.

Is there a favorite restaurant or fast food place you like to cheat with?
What is your favorite food to eat there?

It's difficult for me, as my two favorite places are Furr's Buffet and the Asian buffet places. I have to keep away from them, because I will stuff myself sick if I go to either of those places!!!!

So, for me.....I usually end up going to Dairy Queen and getting a Beltbuster, no lettuce, heavy pickles!!! Mmmm, Mmm!!!! And not to forget the onion rings!!!!

I don't cheat for one simple reason. One cheat meal can take me MONTHS to get back on track, so I simply don't do it.

I am perfectly happy with a nice juicy steak and salad in just about any restaurant.

I do not have one as I don't walk in, sit down or use restaurants. Makes life simple as I have a condition called "Dinerphobia"

Papa Pablano's or On the Border - Mexican food restaurants. Guacamole made at the table. My cheat would be if I decided to have 5 or 6 chips with salsa.

Ooooo, thats a new one on me! I will have to research this one.
Although, having worked in a truck stop diner for a short time years ago....I can certainly understand.

Would that I always could get home to an appropriate prepared meal when it was time to eat... Maybe when I retire (ha!).

My favorite restaurant recently is the to-go section of Hy-Vee's supermarkets. There's a good salad bar, a grill with all kinds of barbecued meats (not slathered with sauce), pizza (I can eat the tops and a salad), and a sushi bar and Chinese food counter (which I walk right past).

One time I was looking for some steamed vegetables to go with the meat I got at another counter. When I couldn't find it, the guy at the Chinese food counter actually offered to made some for me, off the menu.

It's easy for me to find some variety for lunch or dinner there. And it doesn't hurt that I'm almost always there with friends. :smile2:

I have a weakness for Asian Buffets which doesn't do my carb count any good but I can compensate for it usually with a 50 percent increase in my humulog dosage. It's usually a winter activity when the temperatures outside are below 0 and there's lots of snow on the ground.
I also drive by a Kentucky Fried Chicken on my way home. Love that smell although I always tend to feel somewhat ill after eating there so I haven't had any KFC meals in years,

One of my volunteer projects involves moving 4-5,000 pounds of goods over a few hours. The job finishes at lunchtime and I just want to drink something cold and eat. The Chinese buffet near where I volunteer offers no waiting for unsweetened iced teas or food.

Now that I'm managing my T2 I'm no longer putting lo mein or battered anything on my plate. But I can eat enough there (mostly vegetables) to be satisfied and I've yet to see my BG go over 140 two hours after eating. That surprises me since there must be at least cornstarch in the sauces and I've been known to sneak in a potsticker or two. I probably should check after three and maybe four hours though I really do patrol the carbs. Next time, I guess...

It is kind of a waste of "all you can eat" but I tell myself I'm paying for the variety and speed without receiving my meal in a paper bag. And it happens only once every month or two. So far, manageable.

Right now my favorite is the 3 piece grilled chicken thighs at KFC, I get double order of green beans with it. I eat 2 pcs of chicken with one of the green beans for lunch and the other thigh, green beans and cheat with the biscuit for supper.

I'm always going out to eat with friends and family, but I pick meals that are LCHF. The other day, I found myself in the Burger King drive-thru. I was planning on having a burger (no bun) with a salad. While quickly scanning the menu, I noticed "chicken salad" so I inquired about it. Turns out that they have a yummy grilled chicken salad. They also have a chicken cobb with bacon. BK is another fast food place to add to my list :)

I used to be addicted to Wendys Asian Chicken Salad. I probably ate that several times a week. Although fast food salads are supposedly just as bad as burgers and fries. It doesn't matter anymore anyway, because once I get "addicted" to something, they stop making it.

I did notice BK started selling salads where I'm at, last summer. I'd like to try one, but with all this romaine lettuce poisioning people are getting recently........I'm opting for buying my own greens at the store.
